I
have a strong relationship with chocolate, especially Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. I was
afraid that if I were to eat chocolate that the weight that I lost would come right back. |
|
I think I abstained form any chocolate
for the first couple months of my new nutrition plan. I was also afraid that one taste of
chocolate would make me crave it even more. |
|
Marco worked with me on understanding how
to have treats as part of my diet
|
|
It was funny because we turned it
turned into "the Reese's project," and my assignment was to go out and have one. |
|
When I eventually had my Reese's I
realized that yes I still love chocolate once or twice a week or less, depending on my
mood, but I could control it. There is no reason to abandon the things that I enjoy. Marco
taught me that I just have to be aware of how to incorporate those things into my
"calorie budget." |

Like most people that
start a new eating plan, Emily was very excited about the promise of change. The idea of
losing weight brought about a type of enthusiasm that kept her eating only low
calorie foods. It was important for her to learn how to also incorporate the higher
calorie foods as well. People often refer to these type of foods as "bad foods"
because they have not learned how much of them to have. Seeing foods as "bad and good" instead of just calling
them "lower calorie and higher calorie" foods, leads people to eat too strictly
then binge on the foods they have stayed away from. It turns into a "yo yo"
cycle of eating that never gets them to their goal. Emily learned that even though she was
staying within a calorie budget, she needed to do so with a variety of foods so that she
could happily lose weight. |
It's all about balance. |
