My first meeting with Marco was a lot easier that I had anticipated. I was a bit nervous about talking to a stranger about my weight, but he was pleasant, understanding, optimistic and funny, which helped to put me at ease.

He asked me questions about my history, lifestyle and eating habits.

During that first meeting he weighed me took my body fat percentage and took a picture of me. I have to say that I was embarrassed by that, but I was committed to do anything!

We agreed that we needed to help me learn about how my body uses food and the nutritional aspects to loosing weight.

We worked on healthier alternatives to the foods I was accustomed to eating and about the caloric intake that I needed in order to facilitate weight loss.

Every week that I have met with Marco I have lost weight.
It's wonderful.
I 'm getting to my goal!!!

It's not like I am dieting. I'm not starving myself, but I am not eating 3 to 4 cookies at school either.

I now understand the benefits of eating better within a caloric boundary.

While focusing on my nutrition and food intake I also make time to do cardio work at the gym. I'm enjoying this new aspect of my life and I am receiving the benefits too. I am loosing weight and feeling better.

marco2.jpg (8548 bytes)Emily's process for losing weight consisted of first learning how many calories her body needed per day. We figured that out by monitoring her eating for a week then averaging her calories. As with most of the people that I work with, she was surprised to find out that some of the foods she was eating had many more calories that what she thought. Next, we came up with an amount of calories that might suit her and she tried it for a week. At the end of the week we made some adjustments in the amount so that it felt better to her. We continued that process into the following weeks. As the weeks went by, Emily learned how to add more variety into her diet while maintaining a calorie intake that felt good to her and was within a weight loss range. She ate pastas, sandwiches, fruits, vegetables, pop corn, pretzels and Popsicle's to name a few foods. By eating an amount of food that fit her, she was able to enjoy a variety of foods which are mistakenly called "fattening food" because most people simply eat to much of them.

Emily encounters her biggest
"food fear."
